- The Places That Scare You: A Guide To Fearlessness In Difficult Times by Pema Chodron
- Anything by Pema, an American Buddhist nun, invites us to deeper consciousness and living with intention. This book in particular asks the thought-provoking question “Do I prefer to grow up and relate to life directly or do I choose to live and die in fear?”
- Gestures of the Heart: A Guide For Healing The Residue of Life’s Traumas by
Pamela Church
- This little book is chock full of simple, quick and effective energy protocols. The index clearly shows you where, why and how to place your hands on specific chakras and acupuncture meridians and points to find relief from emotional and physical distress. It is a great resource for connecting mind, body and heart.
- Your Hands Can Heal You by Stephen Co and Eric Robins, M.D.
- A health reference book for anyone who is interested in learning more about self-healing. The thorough step-by-step healing method, called Pranic Healing, was developed by Master Choa Kok Sui to remove energy blockages in the body (www.pranichealing.com). Pranic Healing is taught all over the world. I have taken many classes and frequently use these healing techniques on my family and myself.
- You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
- This book has been around a long time…since 1984. It is a valuable resource because of the thorough list, A-Z, of physical symptoms, diseases and illnesses. You begin to see the relationship between physical conditions and common emotional themes so you know where to focus your attention for healing.
- Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior by David Hawkins, PhD
- A few things got my attention in this very interesting book (1) David suggests that just reading it will raise the average reader’s baseline level of consciousness by 35 points; (2) he actually explains the levels of human consciousness in a map he has developed; (3) he brings the issue of power vs. force into our ordinary everyday lives and explains the differences between the two.
- Men, Women & the Power of Empathy by A. R. Maslow, Ph.D.
- Practical strategies in each chapter to teach men and women how to develop empathy and create the closeness they desire in their relationships. A few male clients have commented, “Reading the introduction was worth the price of the book.”
- Reversing Chronic Pain: A 10-point All Natural Plan for Lasting Relief by Maggie
Phillips, PhD.
- A user-friendly guide that clients say actually works to dissolve the fear and trauma that perpetuate chronic pain. It is a holistic approach to restoring the mind/body connection. Key points include focus on breathing techniques and shifting the pain signals in the brain. I have several clients with severe chronic pain who are finding relief using this book.
- Lean Forward into Your Life: Begin Each Day As If It Were On Purpose by Maryanne Radmacher
- This author’s attitude is so positive about life you’ll want it to rub off on you. A treasure book full of tips, prompts and reminders that “Life is the biggest schoolroom there is. Show up and take notes.” So I did and I now have new pearls of wisdom that I reflect on.
- The Star in My Heart, Experiencing Sophia, Inner Wisdom by Joyce Rupp
- This book acknowledges, honors and celebrates our deep feminine wisdom. This is the wisdom that most of us deny connecting with because we’re busy “living our lives”. Each chapter asks questions and makes suggestions for how you might become more aware of your own inner “Sophia.”
